Now, here's a tale about a little dog
Weighed under a pound, stood 6 inches tall
Was a cute little fella-but you better watch out,
He had fire in his eyes and smoke in his snout
Everybody'd run when he came into view,
They knew who was boss, and he knew it,too
And he was known as..........

Now, Nikky used to bark at anyone he met
If it's barkin you want, that's what you'd get
And bitin, Nikky did that, too
He'd fly across the room and bite you in the shoe
He'd bite the fridgerator, bite the kitchen chair
He'd bite the air, he didn't care
And he was known as............

Now Nikky used to eat, whatever we fed'm
He'd gobble up the whole thing, and we'd let him
People food is wrong, but my pappy would say-
"Come on, Nikky-what's on the menu for today?
Have a baked potato, here's a lollipop
How's about some ice cream with a cherry on top?
And when you're done with that-and if you're ready,
Chicken parmagian with a side of spaghetti!"

Now, when it came time to take Nikky for a walk
Everybody'd scream, holler and sqawk
"I don't wanna take hime out, I took him out before!"
Too late-cause Nikky just did it on the floor
Then he did it on the rug, he did it on the news
He even did a little in my Daddy's shoes
And he was known as.........

Now one day Nikky wasn't feelin' too great
The vet said, "I'm gonna have to operate-
This dog's too fat, this dog's too mean
We're gonna have to get his insides clean
Well, my sisters all started to cry
"Cause we almost made our doggy die!"

Now Nikky got better, and you understand
We put him on a little doggy diet plan
We couldn't understand how he got this way
‘Course we pushed him to the side when he wanted to play
We hardly ever pet him, we never took him out,
I guess that's the reason-you can figure it out!
And he was known as...........

So if you ever want a pet, you better beware
Treat it with love, kindness and care
Don't make the mistakes my family made
Make sure your dog, or cat is paid
The respect they deserve, or you will see
That dog or cat might turn out to be-
