Lyrics for: Build That Clubhouse
BUILD THAT CLUBHOUSE
Words and music by Lou Del Bianco/Additional music by Marshall Toppo
It happened in October, a long time ago
My friends and I decided, “We need some place to go!”
To get away from people, have a place of our own.
So we traveled all around the neighborhood,
Asking everybody if they had any wood,
“A table or a chair would be just as good.”
Build that clubhouse, build it now!
Don't know when we'll finish,I don't know how
There's just too many things that Mom won't allow.
We're gonna build that clubhouse.
Build it now-ow, build it now! Now-ow, build it now!
My sister Amy said that it couldn't be done
"You can't build a clubhouse, you ain't foolin anyone"
Well, that made us more determined, so we stuck to our guns.
Yeah, we built it out of anything that we could find:
A closet shelf, some cardboard, we really didn't mind,
Just so we could finish, there wasn't much time.
Build that clubhouse, build it now
Don't know when we'll finish, I don't know how
There's just too many things that Mom won't allow
We're gonna build that clubhouse.
Build it now-ow, build it now! Now-ow, build it now!
Then before we knew it, the winter had come
And just the floor and one wall was all we had done.
We sat and watched the snow fall, it wasn't much fun.
When the snow had melted and all disappeared,
We ran and got our hammers, people thought we were weird.
All the kids were lookin’, they stopped and they stared
The posters on the walls made my Mom mad;
The curtain was a tee-shirt that belonged to my Dad.
I even let my sisters in, that wasn't so bad.
We started in October, we finished in May,
That clubhouse wasn't pretty, I really have to say.
But we were glad we did it , we loved it anyway
Build that clubhouse, build it now
Don't know when we'll finish, I don't know how
There's just too many things that Mom won't allow
We're gonna build that clubhouse.
Build it now-ow, build it now! Now-ow, build it now!!
